The year 2008 to 2012 was the best time to be alive, switching on your televisions every Friday on SABC 1 to be glued on our screens to watch not only the show Live! but to see what our girl Bonang Matheba will be wearing. She was an iconic fashion super star and as Africa we were never ready for her.
Up to this day almost 2 decades later , the girlies are still trying to dress like Queen B rocking 30inch weaves , earring hoops , mini skirts and the most fashionable high heels. The aesthetic just shows how Bonang was always ahead of time in everything she was doing.
From a clothing line named Just B , a handbag collection in collaboration with some London based designers called Baby Star and becoming the first African celebrity to produce her own reality show on Youtube called B*Dazzled , we just knew she was on Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian level back in 2010.
As she grew up , she transitioned her career to a more serious one to leave the party girl persona from her Live show days and she did well doing talk shows and hosting awards shows around the world including the MTV European music awards. She also became the first African Revlon international brand ambassador.
Bonang went on to feature in Forbes magazine, Glamour magazine and being shortlisted as the host for Miss Universe after Steve Harvey. She launched her wine named after her called BNG which has become a sponsor for Miss South Africa pageant since 2019.
